The three package families
Bag-in-box covers small packs, commonly 1–25 L. Bag-in-drum covers 200 L and 220 L bags in drums. BIC/IBC liners cover 1000 L and 1500 L bulk containers. The families differ in support, head reach, weighing range and handling, not only volume. A machine configured for one family may not cover another without change parts and a new trial.
The fitment is a working interface
The catalogue lists 1 in and 2 in (25 mm and 50 mm) bag mouths, but a nominal size is not a compatibility guarantee. Record the bag supplier, fitment part number, cap revision and drawing tolerances. Check the head engagement, the opening and reclosing method, and the treatment used at the interface. Similar-looking fitments can have different working geometry.
Change parts and closure
A change part can adapt the head to a different fitment, but it does not automatically establish aseptic compatibility or closure performance. Confirm the changeover procedure, the parts list and the verification after changeover. Inspect the closure using the package supplier’s criteria and the project’s integrity checks.
Support and fill mass
The bag must be supported so that the product weight is carried by the container or platform, not the fitment. For drums and bins, confirm the liner position and the filled load. For bag-in-box, confirm the box and bag insertion sequence. The fill mass and product density determine the working volume, not the nominal bag size alone.

Frequently asked questions
Can a 1 in fitment run on a 2 in filling head?
Only with the correct change parts and a verified interface. The nominal size alone is not enough; the neck, cap, head engagement and treatment must be checked.
What bag sizes are available?
The AF-series catalogue covers 1–25 L BIB, 200/220 L BID and 1000/1500 L BIC/IBC liner formats. The working range for a specific model and product may be narrower.
What drawing should I send?
Send the current bag and fitment drawing, part numbers, cap drawing, tolerances and the intended support arrangement.
